Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how AcruxKC (“we,” “us”) collect, use, secure and disclose your Personal Information. It applies to information collected through https://www.AcruxKC.org, https://www.AccessKC.org (AccessKC), and https://OrearInstitute.org (Orear Insititute) (collectively the “Website”) and information collected offline. By using our Website, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use, please do not use our Website.

“Personal Information” is information that uniquely identifies you or can identify you by combining it with other data. It includes your name in combination with other identifying data, such as email or postal address, phone number or other personal information associated with you. The legal name and definition of Personal Information differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Information Collection

We collect Personal Information that you voluntarily give us, which may also include a username, password or other account security features you utilize on the Website. To purchase event tickets or make a donation, you must provide contact information, such as name, postal address, email address and mobile number. This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your orders. If we have trouble processing an order, we will use this information to contact you.

We do not maintain your credit card information. Online donations through our Website are handled by a third party payment processing platform, which securely collects and maintains your credit card and transaction information. You can verify that your credit card information is encrypted in transit by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

When you visit our Website, certain browsing information is collected, such as IP address, device ID, browser setting, operating system, referring domain, language preferences, mobile carrier, website activity and cookies. Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. You can set your browser to decline all cookies automatically or to prompt you for a response each time a cookie is offered. If you decline cookies, you may find that you cannot access all our Website’s features.

To learn more about the use of Cookies by Google for analytics and to exercise choice regarding those Cookies, please visit the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or the Digital Advertising Alliance.

There are “do not track” or similar browser choices available to internet users with respect to online web activity, but given the present lack of consensus of what constitutes an informed election, appropriate trigger or breadth of scope of such choice, our Website will not operate any differently when a “do not track” signal is received.

Information Use

We use your Personal Information to communicate with you, process your donations, customize your Website experience, and inform you of services and donor opportunities we believe you might find of interest, such as news about the Foundation or special events. We also use the information automatically collected about you during your use of the Website to improve the effectiveness of our Website, operations, mobile experience, communication efforts, to prevent fraud and theft, and otherwise to protect visitors to our Website. We will not keep your Personal Information for any longer than is necessary for the purposes we collected it.

Information Sharing

Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to Personal Information. We do not share Personal Information with any third party outside of our organization, except to the limited extent necessary for our vendors to carry out our services or maintain the Website. All such persons are required to comply with this Privacy Policy.

We may sell, transfer and/or disclose your Personal Information as part of a divestiture, sale, merger, or acquisition of all or a part of our organization. If another organization acquires us or our assets, that organization will possess the Personal Information collected by us and will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy. In the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership, your Personal Information may also be transferred as an organizational asset.

We may release your Personal Information to others (including law enforcement) if we believe such release is reasonably necessary (i) to comply with a government or law enforcement request or judicial process; (ii) to operate the Website; (iii) to process any orders or registrations; (iv) to conduct any promotions, contests, or sweepstakes in which you participate; (v) to protect the rights or property of the Company; or (vi) to enforce our Terms of Use or this Privacy Policy.

In addition, we may share aggregate, non-individual information, incapable of identifying a particular person, with third parties for lawful purposes.

In addition to the security and encryption protections we utilize for donations and credit card information, we have taken measures to protect your Personal Information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, or destruction. For example, the computers in which we store Personal Information are kept in a secure environment. That said, no security measures are completely secure and we cannot promise that ours will be so.
