Celebrating Legacy and Future:
Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Reunion & Scholarship Luncheon
Last month, on June 8th, we hosted the Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Reunion & Scholarship Luncheon at the Kauffman Foundation Conference Center. This event brought together our esteemed alumnae and celebrated the future of nursing through our scholarship programs. The gathering was a testament to the enduring legacy and spirit of the Trinity Lutheran community.
The Luncheon was a heartwarming event with nearly 90 attendees, including nursing alumnae, scholarship recipients and their families, friends, AcruxKC board members, and staff. The program began with a warm welcome from Beth Radtke, Executive Director of AcruxKC, followed by a delightful luncheon buffet.
Becky Lytle, President of the Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association, shared the rich history of the TLH School of Nursing and its scholarship initiatives. We also celebrated the contributions of Joy Cottrell. Steve Hollinger presented the history of the L. A. Hollinger MD Fund, offering insights into the lasting impact of Dr. L. A. Hollinger's legacy.
One of the highlights of the luncheon was the presentation of the scholarship awards. AcruxKC awarded a total of $174,600 in nursing scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year. Applicants from 25 different universities across the United States competed for the prestigious Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship and the L.A. Hollinger, MD Scholarship. Each recipient present at the Luncheon received a certificate representing their awards and a small token as a reminder of the nursing past and current supporters behind them. The Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Fund granted $149,100 in scholarships, while the L.A. Hollinger, MD Fund contributed an additional $25,500. These scholarships play a crucial role in supporting the educational pursuits of our future nurses, helping them achieve their dreams and make significant contributions to the healthcare field.
