Empowering School Health: Legacy Grants for Student Health 2024-2025

At AcruxKC, we believe that healthy students are the foundation of thriving communities. Since 2017, our Legacy Grants for Student Health (LGSH) program has been at the forefront of enhancing the physical and mental well-being of students across the region. As we enter the 2024-2025 academic year, we're proud to announce the distribution of $221,050 in our seventh round of grants, continuing our commitment to improving student health and wellness.

A Focused Investment in Health and Well-Being

The Legacy Grants for Student Health is an invitation-only initiative aimed at school districts and charter schools with significant free or reduced-cost school lunch enrollment. Our goal is simple yet impactful: to empower schools with the resources they need to address critical health challenges within their communities.

For the 2024-2025 academic year, schools and districts had the opportunity to request funding across five categories:

- Asthma assessment and treatment supplies: Providing essential resources to manage and treat asthma, ensuring students can breathe easier and participate fully in school activities.

- Health screening equipment: Enabling schools to identify and address health issues early, fostering a healthier learning environment.

- Emergency response training and supplies: Equipping staff with the knowledge and tools they need to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies, safeguarding the well-being of students and staff alike.

- Mental health intervention training: Supporting the mental health of students by training school personnel to recognize and respond to mental health crises, promoting a culture of care and support.

- Disease mitigation equipment and supplies: Ensuring schools have the necessary resources to prevent the spread of illness, creating a safer environment for all.

Reaching Nearly 100,000 Students

This year's grants will benefit nearly 100,000 students, faculty, and administrators across the region. The impact of these funds will be felt far and wide, from classrooms to school nurse offices, as schools implement programs and purchase equipment that directly address the health needs of their students.

A Legacy of Impact

Since its inception in 2017, the LGSH program has invested over $1.5 million into area schools, making a lasting impact on student health. From providing essential health screening equipment to training staff in mental health intervention, these grants are a vital resource for schools working to create healthier, safer environments for learning.

As we look to the future, we remain dedicated to our mission of supporting student health across the region. We're excited to see how this year's grants will empower schools to make meaningful, positive changes in the lives of their students.

Thank you to all our partners, educators, and administrators for your continued commitment to student health. Together, we're building a brighter, healthier future for our communities.
